Thesis

Clemson University invests a majority of its time and money into athletic facilities instead of concentrating on academic and housing buildings.

New West End-Zone Expansion to Memorial Stadium

A view of the newly constructed west end-zone seating area from the top of the hill. Prior to the construction of the WestZone area, seating capacity in "Death Valley" was 77,381. Upon completion in 2006, the seating capacity is now 80,301. This renovation cost the University millions and millions of dollars.

Clemson Men's Basketball Locker Room

The player's lounge is adjacent to the locker area. This room features leather sofas and recliners, three 50" plasma televisions, an XBox 360, PlayStation 3, and a refrigerator.

As you can see, the actual locker area features plush leather chairs and wide-open space. Each player has a silver-plated plaque above their locker that features their name and a picture of them in action.

Mauldin Hall Bathroom

These are the showers in Mauldin Hall, a freshmen male dormitory on the east side of campus. The showers are in need of new tiling and have been taped off for at least 3 weeks.
On the caution tape, a student has written "Your tuition at work!" I thought that this shot would really capture the disgust of students with regard to how the University uses their money.

Riggs Soccer Field

This is Riggs Field, home to the men's and women's soccer teams at Clemson University. This field is always kept in great condition, and it is considered one of the greatest Division 1-A soccer fields in the ACC.

Unsightly Intramural Fields

There is no comparison between these lower intramural fields and Riggs Field. These fields are run-down, hilly, filled with tiny rocks and pebbles, and next to a busy highway.

Doug Kingsmore Stadium

There is no arguing that Doug Kingsmore Stadium, one of the top baseball complexes in all of America, cost millions of dollars to create and many more still, to maintain.

Newman Hall

Newman Hall, which resembles a prison more than an academic building. The concrete on the outside is stained, the windows are dirty, and it hasn't had an upgrade in years.
A close-up of the disgusting windows of Newman Hall.

Earle Hall

Earle Hall for Chemical Engineering is in desperate need of a face-lift.

McHugh Natatorium

Home to the Clemson men's and women's swimming and diving, McHugh Natatorium is one of the best swimming complexes in the country, and the University spends thousands each year on its upkeep.

Byrnes Hall Ceiling

This broken ceiling tile in the hallway of Byrnes has remained unfixed for at least two weeks now. Note how close the damage is to the carbon monoxide detector and fire alarm. One would think that given these circumstances, it would be fixed promptly.
